(Boards worn at edges and spine joints, rounded at corners, lower rear corner rippled). All edges gilt. Coloured endpapers. A delightfully illustrated copy of James Hogg’s The Raid of the Kers. Originally published in Blackwood’s Magazine, December 1830. The last few pages comprise notes on the Armorial Bearings of the Family of Ker. Designed and etched by R. Thompson for his wife, Essex, the granddaughter of Lieut General Walter Ker, to record the ‘doughty deeds’ of her ancestors. Slim 4to. Beautiful book.
